We grow our own food!
MultiCaf grows its own fruits and vegetables, enhancing food resilience and promoting access to healthy and sustainable food for the vulnerable community of Côte-des-Neiges.

The INARI Network
Launched in 2022 by MultiCaf and the Darlington Ecological Corridor, the INARI network aims to develop and centralize local agricultural initiatives to optimize production, share resources and knowledge, and create synergy between various cultivation sites. This collaborative model strengthens access to fresh, local food while honoring Côte-des-Neiges' agricultural history.
By 2024, the network includes 16 production zones across Côte-des-Neiges, featuring educational and community gardens, the Les Bonnets Bleus microfarm, vertical farming, pollinator islands, and orchards.
The harvests from the INARI network are then redistributed through:
-
The Nomadic Market: Affordable sales in different neighborhoods to improve access to fresh food.
-
Community Partnerships: Collaborations with other organizations to strengthen local food security.
-
Educational Initiatives: Using harvests in cooking workshops and raising awareness about sustainable food practices.
-
MultiCaf: Incorporated into meals served to the community.
By connecting local production and distribution, the INARI network contributes to a more sustainable and equitable food system for the community.

![]() The Blue Bonnets microfarm is an agricultural project by MultiCaf located on the former site of the Montreal racetrack, where a variety of vegetables are grown directly in the soil. Using intensive small-scale farming techniques, it optimizes space to maximize production while adhering to agroecological principles. The farm’s harvests are supplied to the Nomadic Market, contributing to a fresh, local, and sustainable food offering for the community. | ![]() In 2024, the rooftop garden of the Côte-des-Neiges Library was entrusted to MultiCaf and integrated into the INARI network. This site is primarily used for growing lettuce and herbs. Its prime location also allows for the organization of various educational workshops for the community. | ![]() The secondary garden of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf is the first educational garden to join the INARI network. Through this partnership, INARI horticultural facilitators guide students throughout the summer, helping them maintain the garden every week, ensuring a bountiful harvest for MultiCaf. | ![]() Located on the roof of the Pensionnat du Saint-Nom-de-Marie, the school garden provides a variety of fresh, local vegetables to MultiCaf. This self-managed project by the school promotes learning while contributing to the food security of the community. | ![]() In 2023, Mont-Royal Secondary School created a 30m² educational garden through the initiative of Franck Potwora, the personal development and community engagement facilitator, and the INARI network. This garden provided a new opportunity for service-action, allowing students to actively engage in a concrete project that promotes environmental and social values within the school. |

![]() Created in 2022 by the INARI network, the IRGLM community garden was established to transform an unused urban space into a hub for local and solidarity-based agricultural production in the heart of Côte-des-Neiges. In response to a request from the community organization Club Ami in early 2024, the garden was made available to them for weekly use with their members. | ![]() Several pollinator islands have been created in Martin-Luther-King Park to provide a habitat for pollinators. By incorporating a variety of nectar-rich plants, these spaces contribute to local biodiversity and support bees, butterflies, and other essential insects for the neighborhood's ecosystem. | ![]() Fifteen planter benches have been installed in Martin-Luther-King Park to provide resting spots for citizens and IRGLM patients. These benches not only offer new floral spaces to beautify the urban landscape but also promote biodiversity, attract pollinators, and create a calming and welcoming environment. | ![]() These 4 Green Towers, generously lent by L'Or Vert, allow for the year-round cultivation of fresh food using aeroponics for MultiCaf’s kitchens. This soil-free growing method, which uses a system of nutrients suspended in the air, offers an innovative and sustainable solution for producing vegetables, herbs, and microgreens directly on-site. |
